INSTRUCTIONS FOR:
3-CARD OMAHA HOLD'EM HAND/GAME ANALYZER(tm) 1.1

ANALYZE ANY SITUATION IN THE 3-HOLE-CARD FORM OF OMAHA HOLD'EM
For information on the 4-hole-card "Omaha Hold'em Hand/Game Analyzer(tm)"
and other Analyzers or poker games, see "Info on Other Analyzers / Games"
by pressing 'I' at the Main Menu.
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
TO START THE 3-CARD OMAHA HOLD'EM HAND/GAME ANALYZER (3-hole-card form):
At the DOS prompt (A>), type in "OMAHA3" and press the 'Enter' key.
INTRODUCTORY: All WorkWare Hand/Game Analyzers work basically the same.
Almost all of the essential command-keys and what they do are shown on
screen. The following help is broken into 2 parts. First, the GENERAL
HELP explains WorkWare's Analyzers using the 7-Card-Stud Analyzer as
the example. Second, the SUPPLEMENTAL HELP explains features that are
especially useful in analyzing the complexities of Omaha Hold'em.
GENERAL HELP:
──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
A "Monte Carlo" test consists of compiling the results of a series of
trial hands. For example, if you wanted to determine how often a starting
hand (1st 3 cards) of Ace, Ace, Two would win against 6 other players, you
would give 1 player such a hand and then deal many trial hands to all 7
players. The more trials made, the more reliable the results become.
To run Monte Carlo tests of 7 Card Stud, enter 7ANLYZ at the DOS prompt.
The following screen ( without the 7, 8, 9 cards, and with all card-columns
active and all results set to 0 ) will appear.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
F1-Start : The F1 key starts the Monte Carlo run.
Esc-Exit : The Escape key exits the program.
Ins/Del-Add/Remove : The Insert and Delete keys add or remove a player.
BkSp-Clear : The Backspace key clears all totals.
-Move : The Up and Down Arrow keys move the cursor from card to card.
-Assign : The Right and Left Arrow keys assign a card a value.
─┘-Set : The Enter key enables setting the number of trials to run.
+- keys-Change details : The Plus and Minus keys change the type of
statistics shown. The two types of statistics are as follows:
Type 1:
W 3612 3096 3038 3104 = Number of wins
L 9238 9754 9812 9746 = Number of losses
% 28.11 24.09 23.64 24.16 = Percent of wins
O 2.56 3.15 3.23 3.14 = Odds to 1 of winning
$ 1598 -466 -698 -434 = Money accumulated *
(*Note that the money accumulated ($) is based on $1 bet every round by
every player. This type of uniform betting, of course, does not reflect
actual betting, but is meant only to give an indication of whether the
hand being tested generally results in profit or loss.)
Type 2:
Straight Flush 0 0.00 % Three of a kind 0 0.00 %
Four of a kind 0 0.00 % Two Pairs 5 35.71 %
Full House 0 0.00 % One Pair 5 35.71 %
Flush 1 7.14 % Nothing 3 21.43 %
Straight 0 0.00 % Player # 1
Type 2 statistics show how many times the trial hand resulted in each
possible poker score, for example, Straights or Full Houses.
While the Monte Carlo trials are running, the following commands are seen
at the bottom of the screen:
F1-Stop Ins-Display Space-Pause Del-Single step
F1-Stop : Stop the Monte Carlo run. It may be resumed.
Ins-Display : Change how much information is displayed, and how often the
statistics are updated. For the fastest testing, press the
Insert key until nothing is changing except the number of
"deals completed." Also, for speed, keep the Type 1 statis-
tics on the screen. In this case, the statistics are updated
only every 50 deals.
Space-Pause : The Space bar pauses the run and updates statistics.
Del-Single step : The Delete key single-steps through trial hands.
NOTE: The F10 key will clear all card settings.
After trials have been made, exit the Monte Carlo screen by pressing the
Escape key. At the main menu, press R for [R]eports. The following is an
example of the information that will appear on screen:

SUPPLEMENTAL HELP SPECIFIC TO OMAHA:

SUPPLEMENTAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE 3-CARD OMAHA HAND/GAME ANALYZER(tm)

──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
This Analyzer works very much like our 7 Card Stud and Texas Hold'em
Analyzers. But because Omaha is more complex (in its combinations
and permutations, not necessarily in its entire playability), Omaha
human analyzers need a little more help. So, the Omaha Hand/Game
Analyzer(tm) has the following additional functions:
I. WHEN TRIALS ARE RUNNING
Esc The 'Esc'ape key now will halt the running of trials.
This is in addition to the F1 key (the start/stop toggle).
II. WHEN TRIALS ARE NOT RUNNING
F5 From the Analyzer screen, press 'F5' to see reports. It
is not necessary to exit to the Main Menu and press 'R'.
F2 Press 'F2' to save the current results to a disk file. Name
the file any DOS-legal 'filename' and add the extension '.PKR'.
If you need a directory, press 'F2' again.
F4 Press 'F4' to load a 'filename.PKR' file from disk. Press
the 'F2' key to access a "point-and-shoot" directory.
F10 Press the 'F10' key to get a pop-up screen like the following:
╔══════════════════╗
║ Clear Card(s): ║
║ ─┘=One card ║
║ Y(es)=All ║
║ Esc=Exit ║
║ Command ║
╚══════════════════╝
Press '─┘' (Enter) to clear the current card, i.e., the card
where the cursor is positioned.
Press 'Y' or 'y' to CLEAR ALL CARDS without further confirma-
tion.
Press the 'Esc'ape key to exit without clearing anything.
III. WHEN YOU ARE SINGLE-STEPPING THROUGH TRIAL HANDS
SPACE Once you have begun single-stepping through trials, the space-
bar and the 'Del' key will continue the 1-stepping. The space-
bar, however, can not initiate single-stepping.
F9 The 'F9' key toggles off and on the √ check-marking of the 5
cards out of 9 a particular player used for his highest hand.
± Changes which player's 'F9' √ marks are displayed.
IV. ADDITIONAL REPORT SCREENS
In Omaha Hold'em, you must use 2 out of 3 hold cards dealt to you.
There are 3 possible ways to combine 3 cards 2 at a time. The 3
combinations are:
cards 1 & 2
cards 1 & 3
cards 2 & 3
To analyze Omaha Hold'em, you must track the performance of each
of the 3 possible hole-card combinations.
F5 Once you have accessed the Report section, by pressing either
'R' at the Main Menu or 'F5' at the Analyzer screen, press
'F5' again to toggle between the following two report modes.
REPORT MODES:
3-CARD MODE: The Monte Carlo results in 3-CARD MODE reflect
resultant and winning hands FOR THE PLAYER,
irrespective of which two hole cards were used
to make the Player's highest hand. (If you are
a registered user, see "Hand/Game Analyzer, Reports"
in the printed manual.)
2-OF-3 MODE The results in 2-OF-3 MODE reflect resultant and
winning hands FOR THE PLAYER'S PARTICULAR 2-HOLE-
CARD COMBINATION.
The following is an example screen of the 2-OF-3 MODE:

Esc Press the 'Esc'ape key to return to the Main Menu or to the
Analyzer screen, wherever you came from.
F5 Toggle back to the 3-CARD MODE.
± The '+' and '-' keys change the 2-hole-card combination that
appears on screen.
F1 Press 'F1' to print the current screen.
F10 Print all 6 screens of the 2-hole-card combinations.
TIPS:
1) To change a player, you must be in the 3-CARD MODE. So, from
the 2-OF-3 MODE, press 'F5', then press '+' or '-'.
2) In the 2-OF-3 MODE, you will see some hole-card combinations
report all 0's. This is normal, occurring because the combi-
nation is never the best, or it is a duplicate of another
combination in the hand.
3) In the Report section, use the 'F5' key and the '+' and '-'
keys to set the screen to the Player/Position and the particu-
lar 2-hole-card combination you are testing. Then, when you
press 'F5' from the Analyzer screen, you will return to the
same player and hole-card combination on the report screen.
